The new Ocean Diver course started last week. So welcome to the club: Jason Webb, Alan Lingwood, Billy Lynch, Roy Boakes, Niamh Doherty, Kit Evans, Vania Pickles, Carlos Miguens and Edward Miguens, Phillip Pitt

Well the season is started even if the weather has only just started to get into gear!! So far the club has had two successful trips to Croatia and to the Manacles. This weekend there is a gang of us in Plymouth and on the fifteenth Clive is leading a group in the Galapagos which should be absolutely fabulous!!

Well the UK diving season is about to fin into action. HWSAC official warm up!?! dive is on the 22nd March at Vobster Quay. Simon Fennell our Diving Officer is organising the event and as also arranged to do some Nitrox practi-cal training, so its really worth while going along. If you don’t want to do the Nitrox training is a good opportunity to get back in the water to check kit / weight / buoyancy etc before the proper diving starts.

Well the season is over and as they go HWSAC has had a great one!!

Big Christmas Tuesday
On 04th December 2007, we will be having our annual Christmas Quiz and Raffle!! As always a 8:30 start, but anyone who could get there a little early to help set things for the festive evening will be much appreciated!! Don't forget your quiz and raffle money!!!!

Christmas Party Remember to make your menu choices for the christmas party and send then with a deposit of £10 per person to Deborah Davies. If you haven’t booked a place, there may still be some places so please contact Deborah to check availablity and book!! The Christmas Party will be held on Saturday 1 December 2007 at The Bull Hotel, Gerrards Cross (same venue as last year). I am still waiting for details of the menu and prices but expect it to be similar to last year - choice of 3 starters, main courses and puds plus 1/2 bottle of wine for £42.50 per person.

The Shark Trust are coming to the British Legion for the Big Tuesday Seminar!! Deborah would appreciate if people could arrive promptly to help set up the chairs etc. It looks to be a very popular event and Deborah is hoping to start the evening at 8.30pm.

Congratulations to Steve Wilkins who is now a qualified BSAC Ocean Diver and is well into his training for Sports Diver!!

Congratulations also to Pete Mowatt, our boat officer who is now a qualified BSAC OWI!!! Congratulations to Alan Davis, Damian Stafford and Rob Taylor on successfully completing the boat handling course. We’re sure these guys will help reduce the burden on the existing Rib Cox's and allow us to make even more use of the Rib for both Training and recreational diving. Review to follow...

On 19th June 2007 the club had a BBQ at the Squirrel pub in Booker. Despite the heavens opening it was a huge success!! Thank you to all those involved in organising it!!!

On 5th June 2007 Vicki Billings gave a talk on her Norwegian trip, the talk was very informative and interesting. Thank You Vicki the photos were fantastic!

Little Tuesday – This Tuesday the club is having a BBQ at the Squirrel pub in Booker. The action starts at 7.30pm and hopefully the weather will be on our side?! If you are coming along and haven’t already told Deborah Davis, the clubs social secretary, that you are please do so Deborah can arrange the food!!

Diving done recently:
Search & Recovery SDC - RIB in Portland - 3 students on course run by Gary Howard. All passed after an enjoyable day looking for shot lines, which were all recovered for a change.

The clubs diving season is now well underway, and only a small amount of bad weather reported!!
This Tuesday (05 June 2007) is Big Tuesday with the Vicki Billings kindly placing herself in the spotlight to talk to us all about Norwegian Coral Reefs. Vicki as you may well know is a fountain of knowledge on marine life and this talk looks to be both very fascinating and popular, so be sure to get there nice and early to get the best pew!!

Pre- Qualified divers joining the British Sub-Aqua Club The British Sub-Aqua Club allows HWSAC to welcome new mem-bers who have undertaken diver training by recognised organi-sations, whether recreational, commercial or military. Divers can join a HWSAC and enjoy diving with our branch within the rec-ommendations of their existing qualification and BSAC Safe Diving Practices (whichever is the more conservative). Len Sumner has been chosen to take over from Jo. We would like to thank Jo for all her hard work!

Suzanne Tunn who has contributed to the club enormously, by arranging all the open water training for the last couple of years, has decided the time has come to pass on these duties on, from February Amanda Radley has taken on these duties. We would like to thank Suzanne for all her hard work and getting so many people through.

Dave Searle, who was a founder club member, an honorary life member and extremely long serving Treasurer, sadly passed away on 16th January 2007 after a major relapse of cancer. Dave made significant contributions to the club with more than 40 years service and will be deeply missed.
