Messages from the committee
Gary Howard (Chairman) –
Hi everyone and I would like to thank everyone in the Club, for all the effort they have put in over the last year. This year Simon and all the dive organisers have provided us with a superb dive programme and I hope you have all had the opportunity to participate.
In the next few months Simon will be looking to arrange a dive planning meeting. Anyone in the Club can organise a dive, if you are inexperienced Simon may ask a more experienced diver to assist you and “manage” the diving. But, the organisation does not have to be limited to dive leader and above. So where do you all want to go diving and when are you going to organise a trip?
When I have had a chance I have been asking members are they enjoying being in the Club. I have so far had a positive response to all such enquires. However, is there something you would like us to do better or differently? I would appreciate any feedback (verbal, e-mail, etc), both good, bad and do better.
On the do better note I hope you all realise that we haven’t quite sorted out the Web Site yet. Can I ask you to bear with us for a bit longer, James has done a sterling job so far and will continue to fit it into his busy shedule To help everyone with communications I propose we send out a bi-monthly contact list by e-mail.
Len Sumner (Training Officer) –
Update on the Training front:
Well the winter is coming and the training for this year is winding down, but for the hardy soles out there we still have a few dives left this year
- October 13th or 14th (possibly in Portland or maybe Vobster)
- November 11th - probably Vobster
If you are interested in these dates please let Amanda Radley know and she will add you to the list

- Emily Cook - Sports Diver
- Eunice Kendall - Sports Diver, just needs to complete the theory to be our next signed off Sports Diver
- Steve Wilkins - Sports Diver

Well done to you all. If people are interested in going to Tenerife next year, let me know now and I'll add you to my list and lookout for a 10 minute session on Tenerife at the next Big Tuesday
Other training activities:
- The next Ocean Diver training course is starting on the 16th October, we have about 6 people signed up or interested which is good
- The Sports Diver Theory course has just started, so if you need to complete any SD theory lessons to get signed off, please let Jane know
As the season comes to an end, I'd like to thank everybody who has helped out with the training this year and also, all the guys in the pump room that make it go so smoothly. I'd also like to thank all the students for putting up with all the last minute changes and making the lessons fun. That is what it is all about.
See you all soon
Cheers - Len
